Honouring Dr. Lee Anne Block Memorial Service

The Keepers of the Forest hold immense gratitude for the vision and friendship of Dr. Lee Anne Block, co-founder of Kapabamayak Achaak Healing Forest, who sadly passed away on February 19, 2022.

Lee Anne was a lifelong educator and Jewish mother who loved to see kids eat.

She made sure there was always some bannock and jam—and often whitefish too—for children to snack on during school visits.

The "Baba's Bannock and Jam" Fund was established in February 2022 to honour Lee Anne's legacy, supporting educational programming and bannock for visiting school children at the Healing Forest.

On July 2, 2023, KAHF along with family and friends, celebrated Lee Anne’s life by hosting a gathering at KAHF.

A beautiful young Alberta Dwarf Spruce tree was planted in her honour, a reminder of the ways that she brought life and beauty to the Healing Forest space and to so many who were impacted by her work as an educator, artist, and activist. Lee Anne, you are missed!
